Pixfra vs Pulsar vs HIKMICRO: An Honest Comparison

G'day. We get asked this a lot: is Pixfra as good as Pulsar or HIKMICRO, and is it worth the saving? Here's our honest take, model against model at similar money. We sell all three brands, so we've got no reason to talk any of them down.

Pixfra prices are RRP as at 24 October 2026. Pulsar and HIKMICRO prices move with promotions, so check the linked product pages for today's price.

The short answer

Pixfra often gives you more sensor or more features for the money, particularly 640×512 sensors and built-in rangefinders at prices where the others give you 384×288 or no laser. Pulsar and HIKMICRO have been in Australia longer, have a deeper range here and a bigger local track record. Neither choice is wrong. It depends on whether you put specs per dollar or a long track record first.

Handheld: around $1,400 to $1,700

On paper, these three are close: the same sensor class and lens size. The Pixfra is a little cheaper. The Lynx and Axion are proven designs with a long run in Australian hands. If you want the most compact unit, the Axion is hard to beat. If saving money matters most, the M419 does the same job.

Rangefinding handheld: around $2,000 to $3,000

This is the bracket where Pixfra makes its strongest case. The Arc A635P puts a 640×512 sensor and rangefinder in your hand for $2,790. The Condor CQ35L is the closest match and one of the most popular handhelds we sell. It usually costs a bit more, and you get HIKMICRO's track record and wide support for that. Both are excellent pig and fox handhelds.

Long-range handheld: $3,500 and up

The Pixfra Arc A650P LRF ($3,490, 640×512, 50 mm F1.0, laser) lines up against the HIKMICRO Condor LRF CQ50L and Falcon LRF FQ50L 2.0. Same sensor class, same lens size, and all have a 1,000 m laser. The Pixfra is generally the cheapest of the three. The Falcon FQ50L 2.0 is a different HIKMICRO design that costs more.

Thermal scopes: entry level

The Pixfra Cetus C225 ($1,190) and HIKMICRO NEOS NE25 are both 256×192 on a 25 mm lens. They're close-range scopes for rabbits and foxes. Spend a little more and the Cetus C335 ($1,890) gets you 384×288 on a 35 mm lens, which is a real step up in picture.

Thermal scopes: rangefinder and 640

At the top end, the Pegasus 2 P650 gives you 640×512, a 50 mm lens, a 1,000 m laser and ballistics, usually for less than the Stellar SQ50L or Thermion 2 LRF XG60. The Stellar is a proven, popular scope with a big following. The Thermion 2 has a classic 30 mm tube design and Pulsar's long record. Its laser is rated to 800 m, and it has a 60 mm lens if you want more reach. Pegasus 2 is also a 30 mm tube, so it mounts the same way.

Binoculars

This is where the price gap is biggest. The Pixfra Draco D635 ($3,990) combines 640×512 thermal, 4K digital night vision and a laser rangefinder. The closest HIKMICRO is the Habrok HQ50L, which also does thermal, night vision and a rangefinder, with a larger 50 mm thermal lens. It costs noticeably more. If you want binoculars and the 35 mm lens suits your distances, the Draco is a lot of kit for the money.

What you give up with Pixfra

  • Track record. Pixfra is newer here. Pulsar and HIKMICRO have years of Australian use behind them.
  • Range in stock. We carry far more Pulsar and HIKMICRO on the shelf. Pixfra ships from the Australian distributor, so allow a few extra days.
  • Accessories. There are fewer Pixfra mounts, batteries and add-ons around locally.

Our honest pick

If you want the most sensor and features for your money, especially a 640 handheld with a rangefinder or a thermal binocular, Pixfra is well worth a look. If you'd rather have a long track record and something we can hand you off the shelf today, HIKMICRO and Pulsar remain great choices. Ask us and we'll talk it through for how you hunt.
