Thermal binoculars let you glass for hours with both eyes open. They're the pick for long nights on the back of the ute. If you'd rather carry something light, a thermal monocular is the better buy. For the sharpest picture, have a look at the 1280 Nocpix QUEST S50R or the Pulsar Merger LRF XT50. Habrok, QUEST, Merger and Ventus are all below.

The extras. Some binoculars are pure thermal. Others, like the Habrok, Ventus and Symbion, add a digital day/night channel next to the thermal, which helps you tell what you're looking at. Then there's a built-in rangefinder, weight on the neck strap and battery type. Just a heads-up: day binoculars like the Vortex Raptor aren't thermal, so they won't find heat at night.

We stock HIKMICRO, Pulsar, Nocpix and ThermTec thermal binoculars, all genuine Australian stock with local warranty.

Why binoculars — and why a monocular first for many hunters

Looking with both eyes is a lot easier on you over a long night than squinting through one. And like a monocular, a thermal binocular lets you find the animal, check the distance and see what's behind it without pointing a rifle around. If you'd rather carry less and keep it in a pocket, a monocular is the better pick. Have a look at Thermal Monoculars Australia.

35 mm: closer country

If most of your hunting happens inside 150 m (rabbits, foxes in scrub, timber edges), go 35 mm. The HIKMICRO Habrok HH35L and Habrok HQ35L add a day/night channel. The Nocpix QUEST L35R, H35R and Pulsar Merger LRF XQ35 are great closer-country picks too. For foxes out around 250 m, go 50 mm instead.

50 mm — open paddock / foxes at 250 m

For identifying animals past 150 m, go 50 mm. The HIKMICRO Habrok Pro HQ50L, Nocpix QUEST H50R, Pulsar Merger LRF XP50 and ThermTec Ventus 650L are all built for open paddocks, and each has a rangefinder.

1280 / long glass — maximum detail

Want the sharpest picture going? The Nocpix QUEST S50R, Pulsar Merger LRF XT50 and Habrok HX60L and HX60LS run top-shelf sensors for a wide, detailed view at distance. If you mostly hunt foxes around 250 m, a 50 mm binocular does the job for less.

Thermal binoculars Australia — FAQ

Binocular or monocular?

Go monocular if you want light and one-handed. Go binocular if you spend long nights glassing and want both eyes open. Either way, pick the lens size for how far you look, and keep a scope for the shot.

35 mm or 50 mm?

Inside about 150 m, 35 mm. For foxes around 250 m and anything else you want to pick out past 150 m, go 50 mm.

Do I still need a monocular if I buy binoculars?

Not really. A thermal binocular already does the spotting. Plenty of hunters still keep a small monocular as a lighter backup though.

Is Hunt The Night a thermal binoculars dealer in Australia?

Yes. We sell genuine Australian HIKMICRO, Pulsar, Nocpix and ThermTec stock with local warranty. Ask us anything before you buy.
