How far can a night vision scope see at night?
Effective range depends on the objective lens (a 70mm gathers more light than a 40–50mm), sensor resolution, and your IR illuminator — not the sensor alone. A larger lens and a stronger IR extend usable identification range; in total darkness an IR illuminator is essential because digital NV still needs some light to form an image.
Do I need an infrared (IR) illuminator?

850nm or 940nm IR — which should I choose?
