The view starts at this unit's own magnification. The further away the animal, and the wider the field of view, the less detail the sensor picks up, until you can tell something warm is there but not what it is. Zooming in makes it bigger, not sharper.

Example image only. Not filmed through this product. Pig and deer stills supplied by HIKMICRO and Nocpix; fox and rabbit are thermal-style images we made from photos by A. Omer Karamollaoglu (CC BY 2.0) and Alexis Lours (CC BY 4.0). Field of view and zoom are simulated from this unit's 384×288 sensor and 35 mm lens, 4× base magnification and 1600×1200 screen. Real results change with weather, display and settings.

A 384 × 288 thermal scope with a 35 mm lens. A sensible middle ground on price and reach.

The Cetus C335 uses a 384×288 sensor behind a 35 mm lens and a 0.5" 1600 × 1200 display, rated for detection out to 1,800 m. The 7.5° × 5.7° view gives you a tighter picture for distance. Cetus is Pixfra's straightforward thermal riflescope line: 12 µm sensor, PIPS 3.0 processing, a magnesium body that's IP67 rated, built-in Wi-Fi and a 64 GB card, with a recoil-activated recorder on board. The battery is a single 18650 with a quick-release cover.

Best for general hunting work out to a few hundred metres. If you want more detail, the C635 has the 640 sensor.
