The view starts at this unit's own magnification. The further away the animal, and the wider the field of view, the less detail the sensor picks up, until you can tell something warm is there but not what it is. Zooming in makes it bigger, not sharper.

Example image only. Not filmed through this product. Pig and deer stills supplied by HIKMICRO and Nocpix; fox and rabbit are thermal-style images we made from photos by A. Omer Karamollaoglu (CC BY 2.0) and Alexis Lours (CC BY 4.0). Field of view and zoom are simulated from this unit's 256×192 sensor and 10 mm lens, 1× base magnification and 1024×768 screen. Real results change with weather, display and settings.

One small thermal that does four jobs. The DNT Hydra Mini HS210M runs as a standalone scope, a clip-on in front of a low-power day optic, a handheld monocular, or a helmet-mounted scanner, so you can set it up around how you hunt instead of carrying separate gear for each job.

It uses a 256x192 thermal sensor with ≤18 mK NETD and AI Image Super Resolution (ISR). In plain terms, it picks up small heat differences and keeps the image usable when you zoom, which helps when you're scanning close country and need to find an animal fast. The wide 17.5° field of view and 1x base magnification suit close to medium range work. If you mainly shoot long range, a larger sensor and lens will suit you better.

Four ways to use it:

1) Standalone scope – 1024x768 Micro-OLED display, 65 mm eye relief, 8 reticle styles and 5 reticle colours, plus Picture-in-Picture with a 2x window.
2) Clip-on – mount it in front of a day optic (best with 1-2x base magnification) and use the day optic's reticle. The included QDF193 mount sits 1.93" above the rail.
3) Handheld monocular – detach it and scan by hand. At 320 g it's easy to carry and use for long stretches.
4) Helmet-mounted – mount to a compatible helmet shroud via a dovetail binocular bridge (Wilcox or KVC/RQE format, not included) for hands-free scanning.

Onboard video and audio recording, Recoil Activated Video (RAV), 32 GB built-in storage and Wi-Fi to the DNT app are all built in. It runs on a removable flat-top 18650 battery for up to 7 hours per battery, with 5V USB-C for external power and data. Two batteries are included in the battery pack listed below, giving up to 14 hours across both.

The aluminium alloy body is IP67 rated and recoil rated to 800 Gs / .50 BMG. CNC-machined Hydra models have a proven track record here, and this mini version keeps the same tough approach in a much smaller unit.

If you're not sure whether 256x192 and a 10 mm lens will cover your country, ask us. We'll tell you straight if you need to step up to a 384 or 640 model instead.
