The DNT Hydra LRF is a straight thermal scope with a rangefinder built in. The Hydra LRF 335R suits closer country and quicker shots. The Hydra LRF 650R gives you the bigger lens for foxes across open paddocks. QDM150 and QDS150 quick-detach mounts are here too. Ask us which one suits.

Pair your Hydra with a handheld for spotting. Have a look at Thermal Monoculars Australia or DNT Hound.

Once the lens is sorted, the extras are battery, weight and a mount (QDS150 or QDM150). Every Hydra LRF already has the rangefinder. Want thermal and night vision in one? Have a look at ThermNight on DNT Optics.

Why grab a monocular too

A scope is built for the shot, so a handheld does the looking. It finds the heat, counts the mob and helps you plan the stalk, then the Hydra LRF comes up when you're ready to shoot.

35 mm: fence lines, scrub and mixed paddocks

Most rabbits, pigs and foxes around fence lines and mixed country turn up inside 150 m. Have a look at the Hydra LRF 335R (384 sensor, 35 mm). There are more 35 mm Hydras on DNT Thermal: the 635R, HS635 and HS325.

50 mm: open country and foxes further out

If you're picking out foxes across open paddocks past 150 m, often around 250 m, go the Hydra LRF 650R (640 sensor, 50 mm).

DNT Hydra LRF Australia — FAQ

Why buy a thermal monocular before a Hydra LRF?

It's safer and quicker. You find and identify the animal with the handheld, then bring the rifle up only when you're ready to shoot.

335R or 650R?

It comes down to how far you shoot. Inside about 150 m, the 335R (35 mm) does the job. For foxes across open country around 250 m, go the 650R (50 mm).

Hydra LRF or ThermNight?

Go Hydra LRF if you just want thermal for the shot, including the 50 mm 650R. Go ThermNight if you want thermal and digital night vision in one scope, in 25 or 35 mm.
