The view starts at this unit's own magnification. The further away the animal, and the wider the field of view, the less detail the sensor picks up, until you can tell something warm is there but not what it is. Zooming in makes it bigger, not sharper.

Example image only. Not filmed through this product. Pig and deer stills supplied by HIKMICRO and Nocpix; fox and rabbit are thermal-style images we made from photos by A. Omer Karamollaoglu (CC BY 2.0) and Alexis Lours (CC BY 4.0). Field of view and zoom are simulated from this unit's 1280×1024 sensor and 50 mm lens, 2× base magnification and 2560×2560 screen. Real results change with weather, display and settings.

Great Monocular, shame about the app

A great monocular with a laser point accurate lrf. Completely awesome bit if you are someone like me who transmits to a tablet beware, the app is crap and your awesome image is reduced to 1/2 the screen with 2 bright borders that destroy your night vision.
