Rimfire rifles are the most practical way to control rabbits and small vermin, train new shooters and enjoy affordable target shooting. This collection covers .22 LR, .22 WMR and .17 HMR rifles in bolt-action, lever-action and pump-action designs.
Bolt-action models make up most of the range, including the Bergara BMR and BMR X, Ruger Precision Rimfire and American Rimfire, Tikka T1x, Lithgow Arms LA101, CZ 457 and Savage. For something different, there are lever-action rimfires from Henry and Rossi and the Rossi Gallery pump-action.
.22 LR is the most economical choice for rabbits and close-range target work, with low noise and recoil. .22 WMR adds range and energy for foxes at sensible distances, and .17 HMR offers a flatter trajectory for small targets further out. Look at barrel length, stock style and whether the muzzle is threaded, and consider a heavier barrel if you mostly shoot from a rest.
