Monocular first — Condor is the scan, not the rifle

Hard rule: scan with a handheld thermal monocular before you shoulder the riflescope. Glassing a paddock through a Stellar or NEOS is slow, poor muzzle discipline, and a reliable way to educate every fox in the district. Find heat, identify, range if you Need it, then mount up.

Condor is that handheld. It is not a substitute for locking the riflescope lens to the same job. Pair a 35 mm Condor with a 35 mm aiming optic (Stellar SH35L 3.0 / SQ35L 3.0 / NEOS NH35L). LRF — why Condor exists

Every current Condor carries the laser. That is the Condor differentiator versus most Falcons (only FQ50L ranges). It is still a Consideration of platform, not a reason to pick 35 mm over 50 mm. Gen-1 CQ35 versus CQ35L 2.0

Battery and power

CQ35L 2.0 / CQ50L 2.0 run a replaceable 21700 (manufacturer about 6.5 hours continuous on CQ35L 2.0 at 25°C, USB-C external power). Gen-1 Condor runs 18650 (product sheet about four hours). Treat runtime as a Consideration: carry a spare cell, do not plan a long night on one, and match the charger to the format. Battery is never a reason to drop from 50 mm to 35 mm.

Roof mount and remote spotting

Is the HIKMICRO Condor CQ35 good for foxes at 250 metres?

That job is a 50 mm Need — on the spotter as well as the rifle. CQ35 / CQ35L 2.0 is the wrong lens class for regularly identifying and ranging foxes at 250 m, regardless of 640, LRF or a special price. Use CQ50L 2.0 for that scan, and pair it with a 50 mm scope such as Stellar SQ50L 3.0.

Lens first. CQ35 / CQ35L 2.0 is 35 mm / 640 for work inside ~150 m. CQ50L 2.0 is 50 mm / 640 for work past that. Do not pick CQ35 because 640 “should be enough at 250 m” — sensor is not reach. Gen-1 versus 2.0 is a Consideration inside the same millimetres.

Should I buy Condor or Falcon?
