Semi-automatic pistols dominate modern pistol sport, from IPSC and action matches to service-style and target events. This collection covers semi-auto handguns from Heckler & Koch, Canik, Walther, SIG Sauer, Glock, Ruger and Hammerli Arms.

Most pistols here are 9mm, the standard calibre for centrefire pistol sport, with .22 LR options such as the Ruger MKIV and Hammerli Arms Forge H1 for low-cost practice and rimfire events. Models include the HK SFP9 and SFP9L, Canik SFx Rival and METE, Walther PDP, SIG P226 and P320 and Glock 17 and 34.

Striker-fired pistols such as the SFP9, PDP and Glock offer a consistent trigger pull, while hammer-fired designs like the P226 give a different feel that many target shooters prefer. Consider grip size and interchangeable backstraps, optic-ready slides, supplied magazines and barrel length for your discipline. Handguns require a Category H licence and club membership in Australia.
