Rifle bipods in Australia

A good bipod turns the bonnet, a log or the ground into a steady rest. Get the mount and leg height right and the rest is easy.

Pick the mount first

Check what your rifle has: a sling stud, a Picatinny rail, M-LOK slots or an Arca rail. Most bipods come in versions for each, like the Magpul Bipod for sling stud or the M-LOK version.

Leg height

6" to 9" legs suit shooting prone off the ground. 9" to 13" legs suit sitting or uneven ground. Taller models suit shooting off a vehicle.

Fixed, swivel or tilt?

A swivel or tilt bipod lets you level the rifle on uneven ground, which matters when you shoot at distance. Carbon models like the Vipertek Apex Helium save weight if you walk a lot. The MDT Grnd-Pod and MDT Ckye-Pod suit precision shooting.
