Shopping for a .223 rifle? These are our .223 Remington rifles, from light carry rifles to heavy varmint set-ups and rifle-and-scope packages. Check what's in stock, or tell us what you shoot and we'll point you to the right one.

Why choose .223 Remington?

  • Low recoil makes it ideal for new shooters and extended range sessions
  • Flat trajectory for precise varmint and predator hunting
  • Affordable ammunition and excellent barrel life
  • Available in full-size and mini-action rifle platforms
  • Plenty of factory loads and reloading components to choose from

What's the best .223 rifle in Australia?

Honest answer: it depends on how you shoot. Here's how to narrow it down.

If you walk a lot for foxes and rabbits, go light. The Tikka T3x Lite and Super Lite models are easy to carry all day. If you shoot off a bench or the bonnet, a heavier barrel holds steady and stays accurate as it warms up. The Tikka T3x Varmint and the Howa .223 Varmint Package are built for exactly that.

If you need fast follow-up shots and can't run a semi-auto, have a look at the pump options, like the Wedgetail MPR Micro.

Twist rate matters

A lot of the .223s here list a 1:8 twist. That's the spot to be if you want to shoot heavier projectiles, because a faster twist keeps them stable. If you only shoot light varmint loads, any twist in the range will do the job.

Packages or bare rifle?

A rifle and scope package is the no-fuss way to get set up and shooting. If you already own glass you love, buy the bare rifle and put the savings into ammo.

Still stuck between two? Tell us what you shoot and where, and we'll point you to the right .223.
