Roll over to zoom
Real thermal footage of warthogs, shown in each palette. Palettes only change the colours; the heat data is the same.
- Across the circle at this distance
- Magnification
- What you can tell
The view starts at this unit's own magnification. The further away the animal, and the wider the field of view, the less detail the sensor picks up, until you can tell something warm is there but not what it is. Zooming in makes it bigger, not sharper.
- Magnification
- Sharpness
Digital zoom crops the sensor image and enlarges what is left. It adds no detail, so each step makes the picture bigger but softer.
Example image only. Not filmed through this product. Pig and deer stills supplied by HIKMICRO and Nocpix; fox and rabbit are thermal-style images we made from photos by A. Omer Karamollaoglu (CC BY 2.0) and Alexis Lours (CC BY 4.0). Field of view and zoom are simulated from this unit's 640×512 sensor and 50 mm lens, 3× base magnification and 2560×2560 screen. Real results change with weather, display and settings.

RIX LPR L6R Thermal Rifle Scope: Range, Hold and Shoot in One Motion
The RIX LPR L6R is the next step up from the LEAP series, and RIX has changed the parts that matter at night. The laser rangefinder now reaches 2,000 m, ranges better in humid air, and its aiming point can be adjusted to sit on your reticle, with a visible laser to help set it. A lower NETD of under 12 mK sharpens the thermal image. Optical and digital zoom share one lever by the eyepiece, the display is a 1.03-inch 2560×2560 AMOLED, and the scope is about 30% lighter than LEAP. Built-in sensors read temperature, humidity and air pressure and feed them to the ballistic calculator. Behind it all sits a 640×512, 12 µm sensor, a 50 mm F0.9 lens and 3–9× continuous optical zoom.
New: 2,000 m Rangefinder You Can Align
The LRF now reaches 2,000 m to ±1 m, and RIX says it ranges more reliably in rain, fog and mist. Top and side screws let you move the laser to line up with the centre of your reticle, so your ranging point and aiming point stay together. A built-in visible laser helps with calibration and short-range target indication, and you can choose intersection or parallel alignment.
New: Lower NETD and Always-On RET
Sensitivity is now under 12 mK NETD, which RIX lists as a key upgrade over LEAP. Enhanced RET processing stays on all the time and works with AI-driven processing to bring out target detail, especially when you use digital zoom.
New: One-Lever Optical and Digital Zoom
Continuous 3–9× optical zoom and 1–4× digital zoom both sit near the eyepiece, so you can change magnification with one hand. The on-screen UI can be scaled up as you zoom, so the icons stay readable. Recoil to Zoom can switch to a preset magnification after each shot.
New: Built-in Weather Sensors for Ballistics
Built-in sensors measure temperature, humidity and air pressure in real time and pass them to the ballistic calculator. You can set up five zeroing profiles, and the calculator uses that data with your own load details to give a corrected aim point.
Lighter, With a Sharper Display
RIX says the LPR is about 30% lighter than LEAP, with the L6R at 912 g without an external battery. The new 1.03-inch 2560×2560 AMOLED gives a clearer view. It still handles 1,000 g / 0.3 ms recoil for .375 H&H, 9.3×64 and 12-gauge, and is rated IP67. If you're only scanning, use a handheld monocular rather than the scope.
