The job first
Start with quarry, typical shot distance and job. Lens first. About 150 m, 35 mm class. Past that, or foxes at about 250 m, 50 mm or more. Sensor class (384, then the 640-class H50R, then the 1280 S60R) adds FOV and detail. It doesn't replace millimetres. The extras are LRF, ballistics, battery and weight.
