Lightly sand pitted or rusted surfaces with emery cloth or steel wool. Apply a small amount with a clean patch. Once the bluing is achieved (the metal turns greyish, usually within 15–30 seconds), neutralise the area with water. Wipe dry and apply a protective coat of G96 Gun Treatment or a G96 gun oil for a long-lasting lustrous finish. Better penetration is achieved if the metal is slightly warm.
